Chinese-style garden (Imperial Garden)

The beautiful Chinese-style garden in Stage I is wheelchair-friendly with extensive provision of ramped access and disabled washrooms. Facilities include a podium garden and visitors may get there by using stairs, ramped access or a lift.

Short Comments: Besides the Chinese-style garden the wheelchair-friendly Lai Chi Kok Park is mainly linked by flat roads and ramped access. But, most fitness facilities within the park are too tall for wheelchair users, improvement is suggested.

Lingnan Garden

A Lingnan-style garden situated in Stage III of Park. 20% (2600 sq. m.) of the 12500-sq. m. garden is covered with water features.LingnanGardenboasts 10 scenic spots with architectural structures radiating from the central pond in the layout of courtyards and winding corridors. The garden is open daily from 7 am to 11 pm for the public to admire the pottery sculpture and all kinds of plants.

Short Comments: Merely an imitation of the Lingnan style, Lingnan Garden is different from other ancient architecture. Extensive provision of ramped access makes it very wheelchair-friendly.

Amphitheatre

The Amphitheatre is also one of the facilities of Stage III. It is a popular performing venue with a spectator stand of 200 seats and an extensive area in front of it for wheelchair spectators. Disabled cubicles are provided in the gentlemen’s and ladies’ washrooms next to it.

1. The Lai Chi Kok Park (Stage I) houses a sports centre and public library. When the 2009 East Asian Games was held in Hong Kong, the centre facilities have been upgraded to meet the requirements as one of the venues, including provision of disabled washrooms nearby. Both the sports centre and public library provide satisfactory barrier-free facilities.
