Tai Tam Reservoir
Barrier-free Index★★★★★
The Tai Tam Reservoir was completed in phases between 1888 and 1917. After expansion, the Tai Tam Upper Reservoir, Tai Tam Byewash Reservoir, Tai Tam Intermediate Reservoir and Tai Tam Tuk Reservoir jointly formed the Tai Tam Reservoirs (Tai Tam Reservoir Group), and the nearby buildings were declared monuments to form the Tai Tam Waterworks Heritage Trail.
The Tai Tam Waterworks Heritage Trail is 5 km long, covering 21 declared historic waterworks buildings. It takes about two hours to complete the trail, making it an accessible hiking trail. Tourists can start from the south gate of the Tai Tam Reservoir, pass the Tai Tam Tuk Reservoir and return after arriving at No. 4 BBQ Park at the dam of Tai Tam Intermediate Reservoir. On the way, tourists will pass by stone bridges, stone aqueducts, dams and other water facilities while enjoying the beautiful scenery of Tai Tam.

South Gate of Tai Tam Reservoir
After taking the lift from Sai Wan Ho MTR Station to the ground, take NWFB 14 at the bus stop opposite Sai Wan Ho Civic Centre (Exit A of Sai Wan Ho Station) and get off at Tai Tam Country Park Station to reach the south gate entrance to Tai Tam Reservoir. Go straight along the road by following the signs in the Tai Tam Country Park to reach the start of the Tai Tam Waterworks Heritage Trail. The route introduced here starts from the south gate of Tai Tam Reservoir and returns at the dam of Tai Tam Intermediate Reservoir, a round trip of about 3.5 km.
Hint:
There is a mobile accessible toilet next to the public toilet outside the south gate entrance for wheelchair users. The water fountain and toilets at the entrance are the only supply stations on the Heritage Trail, so remember to be prepared before setting off.

Stone Bridges of Tai Tam Tuk Reservoir
There are four stone bridges on the way to the dam of Tai Tam Intermediate Reservoir, which were built in 1907 as part of the first phase of the Tai Tam Tuk Project. From the bridge, tourists can enjoy the scenery of the Tai Tam Tuk Reservoir. The whole route is based on a flat and wide road with no up and down sloping sections, along where the air is quite fresh and there are many flying butterflies, so tourists can get close to nature in the beautiful scenery.
From the drop-off point, tourists pass No. 1 BBQ Park and soon arrive at the first of four stone bridges of Tai Tam Tuk Reservoir. The four large stone bridges, all of which are granite arches, were built in 1907 during the first phase of construction to connect Tai Tam Bay to the Tai Tam Intermediate Reservoir and Tai Tam Upper Reservoir and were declared monuments in 2009.
Continuing on, tourists will pass No. 2 BBQ Park, the second stone bridge, the third stone bridge, No. 3 BBQ Park and the fourth stone bridge.
Short comments:
Although there are signs along the road to introduce the history of the Heritage Trail, the text on the signs is too small and difficult for wheelchair users to read.

Dam of Tai Tam Intermediate Reservoir
Before reaching the fourth stone bridge, there is a fork on the left and a sign to the dam of Tai Tam Intermediate Reservoir. As tourists go ahead along the road, there are two forks to the top and bottom of the dam, respectively. The road to the top of the dam is quite steep and electric wheelchairs are likely to break down. It is not recommended for electric wheelchair users to go to the top of the dam, but if there is a skilled carer to assist in pushing the wheelchair, electric wheelchair users may go up to enjoy the view. The fork to the bottom of the dam is narrow and has a lot of rugged rocks and a steep slope, making it impossible for wheelchair users to move forward. Even if wheelchair users can't reach the dam, they can still see it from the bridge from a distance. After touring the dam of Tai Tam Intermediate Reservoir, tourists can turn back along the road to the south gate.
Info:
When tourists leave along the road and return to the entrance of the Tai Tam Intermediate Reservoir, they can cross the fourth stone bridge and immediately reach No. 4 BBQ Park, which is the only one of the four parks accessible to wheelchairs, while the other three are accessible by stairs.
Address: Tai Tam Road, Tai Tam Reservoir, Southern District
Info
The wheelchair ramp on NWFB is located in the middle of the body instead of the front, and the wheelchair parking is also in the middle, so you don't have to go to the front and wait for the driver to open the ramp when you get on.
